Sengresse is situated in its own park of some three hectares, in the calm of the countryside, close to the River Adour as it passes on its way from the Pyrenees to Bayonne and the sea. The grounds are a paradise for birds and wild life; green woodpeckers, wrens, tree creepers and red squirrels, even the occasional deer passes by… and at night listen to our resident owls as they make their way around the property….Enjoy this oasis of calm away from the rush and bustle of everyday life.
Walk beneath the magnificent cedars, the oaks or the limes with their distinctive honey scent; be amazed by the honey locust hanging with its unusual bean shaped pod; enjoy the fruits of cherries or collect the sweet chestnuts and walnuts as they fall to the ground in autumn. In spring carpets of celandines, primroses and violets, or in late summer sheets of pale pink cyclamen…
The barn, a relic of a previous era, remains untouched: its stone pillars, massive beams and spectacular roof timbers in the shape of an ‘up-turned boat’ recall the skills of ancient craftsmen.
The swimming pool, open between late April and October, twelve by six metres with special salometre filtration system, offers exercise or relaxation; outside solar shower. A private space set away from the house and surrounded by rambling roses, lavender beds, a beautiful old olive tree and young palms.
